Lincoln Agritech and Lincoln University are establishing two new scholarships for Māori students considering a career in agritech or environmental sciences.
The scholarships will support students enrolled in a Bachelor of Agriculture, agricultural science, environmental management, or agribusiness and food management.
The scholarships, awarded annually, will be worth $10,000 each – $5000 paid directly to each student, and $5000 paid towards each student’s fees. Each scholarship will last for one year.
Lincoln Agritech CEO Peter Barrowclough said that with the agritech sector growing not just in size, but in its importance to New Zealand, it was essential to encourage more young people into fields of study that could lead to agritech careers.
