Professor Ian Woodhead who has been Group Manager of the Technology Group is stepping down from this role. “Woody” as he is affectionately known is wanting to step back from the rigours of day to day management as he enters his “gold card years”. He will continue his role as Chief Scientist on slightly reduced hours.
As a result of this, Dr Joanne Hay was appointed Group Manager of Technology in January 2020. She will be responsible for managing the Technology Group, will continue working with MBIE and supporting LAL’s proposals to MBIE for funding, and overviewing the company’s project management and contracting practices.
Dr Joanne Hay joined Lincoln Agritech in 1996 as a Research Scientist. She worked in the laboratory developing biosensors for environmental monitoring. Over the years, her role at Lincoln Agritech has evolved as she took on project management responsibilities for the Technology Group, and then company-wide. More recently she has had a Contracts Manager and MBIE Liaison role, successfully managing Lincoln Agritech’s MBIE bidding and reporting for many years.
Professor Ian Woodhead has 40 years’ experience in sensor development and was made Adjunct Professor at Lincoln University in 2014 and was awarded the Royal Society Te Apārangi’s Engineering Scott Medal in 2017 in recognition of the wide range of sensors he has developed for the agricultural and environmental sectors.
He will remain an active participant at Lincoln Agritech and in his additional science roles, such as membership of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Antennas and Propagation, portfolio leader and management team member for the National Science Challenge - Science for Technological Innovation, and in his editorial and assessor positions.
We appreciate Professor Ian Woodhead’s ongoing commitment and contribution to the company and warmly welcome Dr Joanne Hay to Lincoln Agritech’s Senior Management Team.
